Cultural immersion

Today I want to address the foreign readers as there is something that may be of interest for you, particularly for those of you seeking something more than a simple holiday in Spain (Asturias); for those of you wanting to share the real Spanish way of life and, why not, improving their skills using our language.
I’m talking about the “culture immersion programme” that Hugo, from Guías Tour Asturias, is leading altogether with the rural hotel La Casa Vieja del Sastre and our holiday cottage “La Casa del Campo”, here in Asturias. An easy place to get to, especially since Easy Jet Aircraft established its direct flights from London (Stansted) and Air France from Paris.
Hugo has implemented a different way to learn Spanish by sharing your holiday time with your Spanish host. You will be staying in a traditional environment (old self-catering cottage or a rural hotel) and enjoying your holidays while mixing up with the real Spanish life. You will be personally coached by your local host (with a degree in Tourism) who will accompany you through different suggested activities.
An ordinary day of your holiday runs as follows: you usually have half a day free so you can go cycling, ride horseback, go to the beach, visit the region or just relax in your garden. The other half of the day is kept to be with your host. He comes to the house and organizes with you the activities for the day. It means that before going out you will participate in a conversation in Spanish where you will get used to the basic terms you will be using or hearing in your activities. For instance, before going to a restaurant you will be performing with your host and getting used to the words you will be using: names for the traditional dishes you will taste, how to deal with the waiters, or just discovering how to prepare the typical meals. When visiting a monument (e.g. a cathedral) you will be previously given the basic knowledge in Spanish in order to follow the explanations during the visit. The programme will introduce you to the skills you will need for understanding and socialising in Spain. There is no teaching but diving into real Spanish life.
You DON´T NEED to:
Speak Spanish, although a basic knowledge will help you to increase your learning speed.
Be neither young nor old person. Just be willing to learn and enjoy your holiday no matter what your age is.
Be a student. This programme is not aimed to students but to everybody.
You NEED to:
Be a friendly person, so you can interact with your guiding host and the locals.
Love the country side, although the main cities are just half an hour driving from the village.
Be willing to make the most of every minute.
So, if this is the holiday you would like to have, do not hesitate and contact Hugo (info@guiastourasturias.com) or me (info@casaelcampo.com).
